Charging Port & Onboard Charger Repair

If your car charges on one charger but not another, charges only on DC, or the cable will not lock or release, the problem is often in the charging port or the onboard charger (OBC) rather than the battery. Bent pins, burnt contacts, failed lock actuators and temperature sensors are common, especially on cars that fast-charge frequently in hot weather.

We diagnose the full charging path — from the inlet and its sensors, through the OBC and DC-DC converter, to the battery contactors — and repair or replace only what has failed.

Signs you need this service

  • Car charges on DC fast chargers but not on AC (or the opposite)
  • Charging cable will not lock or will not release
  • Charge port light blinks red or the door will not open
  • Burn marks or melted plastic on the socket
  • Charging speed much slower than normal

How we do it

  1. 1

Charging session logs and fault code analysis

  2. 2

Inspection of pins, seals, temperature sensors and lock actuator

  3. 3

    OBC and DC-DC converter testing

  4. 4

Repair or replacement of inlet, harness or OBC

  5. 5

    AC and DC charging verification

Frequently asked questions

Why does my EV charge on fast chargers but not at home?

AC home charging passes through the onboard charger, while DC fast charging bypasses it. If only AC fails, the OBC, the AC pins or the pilot signal circuit are the usual suspects.

Can a damaged charging port be repaired without replacing it?

Sometimes. Lock actuators, sensors, seals and covers can be replaced individually. Burnt power pins usually require a new inlet assembly for safety.
